Organizational Policies

Policy/ Governance Boards have 3 primary roles:

  • to establish (board-level) policies
  • to make significant and strategic decisions
  • to oversee the organization's activity

Organizational policies (non-operational)

  • highest-level policy statement from which all other policies, standards, guidelines, or procedures draw their legitimacy
  • reflect the Board of Director's requirements for organizational behaviour

2 Types:

  • Policy statements found in current Constitution and By-Law
  • New policies to fill gaps/ provide direction for organizational behaviour

From Current Constitution and By-Law:

  • Religious Services
  • Egalitarianism
  • Financial Year
  • Good Standing
  • Privileges of Membership

New Policies:

  • Transparency and Accountability to Members
  • Member Inquiries, Feedback and Complaints
  • Member Code of Conduct
