Intro to Film Cameras and Projectors Workshop

This workshop is for 18 to 30 years old.

In this workshop, you will learn about:

  • An overview of film equipment (Super8, 16 mm)
  • How to care for and operate film equipment (cleaning and loading film)
  • How to use a light meter
  • Types of film
  • How to use a projector
  • How to transfer film to digital

Participants are encouraged to bring in films on Super 8 or 16 mm to be inspected or viewed.

About Madi Piller:

Madi Piller was born in Lima, Peru. She is a filmmaker, animator, mentor, programmer and independent curator based in Toronto, Canada. Madi’s films have been screened at film festivals, alternative spaces and contemporary art venues nationally and internationally. Her work has been produced with the support of the Canada Council for the Arts, Ontario Arts Council, and the Toronto Arts Council.

Eleven in Motion: Abstract Expressions in Animation, Hello Amiga, OP ART Re-Imaged: Imaginable Spaces, The Frame is the Keyframe: Frame Anomalies, FROM A to Z, My Home Here, are her curatorial projects. And several Augmented Reality projects in Toronto and Vienna. She programs animation and experimental hybrid work nationally and internationally.
